Privacy Policy

Storymoji ("Storymoji", "we", "us" or "our") makes an app that turns a few emoji characters a child picks into a short, illustrated story that is read aloud. This policy explains what information the app handles and why. It is written to be read by the grown-up who looks after the child using the app.
Storymoji is designed for children and their families. We built it to collect as little information as possible: there are no accounts, no sign-up, no name, no email address, and no advertising.
Who this policy applies to
This policy covers the Storymoji mobile app and the website at storymojiapp.com. Storymoji is operated by Carlos Felipe Torres ("the operator"). If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the app.
Information we handle
We handle only what the app needs to work:
- An anonymous device identifier. When the app first runs it asks our server for a random identifier. It is not linked to you, your name, your phone number, or any account. We use it only to count how many free stories a device has made in a month and to keep one device's stories separate from another's.
- What the child chooses for a story. The characters, the setting, the mood, and any optional "what should happen" idea the child types are sent to our server so a story can be written and checked for safety. A typed idea is free text; we ask families not to include real names or personal details, and the app works fully without typing anything.
- The stories that are made. Generated stories, their artwork, and their narration are stored so the app can show them and so a story a family chooses to share stays reachable by its share link.
- Subscription status. If you buy a subscription, our payments partner (see below) tells the app whether the subscription is active. We do not receive or store your card number or payment details — those are handled entirely by the App Store or Google Play.
- Basic technical and diagnostic data. Ordinary server logs (for example, that a request was made and whether it succeeded) that help us keep the service running and secure.
We do not collect: your name, email, phone number, address, contacts, photos, precise location, or any advertising identifier. Storymoji contains no third-party advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. The app does not ask for permission to track you, does not use the device's advertising identifier (such as Apple's IDFA), and does not track you or your child across other apps or websites.
How stories are generated
To write a story, check it is safe, narrate it, and (where enabled) paint its backgrounds, the story request is sent to trusted third-party artificial- intelligence and text-to-speech providers that process it on our behalf, such as Anthropic, Google, and ElevenLabs. We send them only what is needed to make the story — never the device identifier or any attempt to identify a child. These providers act as our processors and are not permitted to use the content to build their own advertising profiles. Their own terms and privacy policies also apply to their processing.
Who we share information with
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We rely on a small number of service providers who process data only to run Storymoji:
- Cloud hosting and storage (Amazon Web Services), where the service and generated stories are hosted.
- The AI and narration providers described above, which generate and check story content.
- Our subscriptions partner (RevenueCat) and the app stores (Apple App Store, Google Play), which process purchases and tell the app whether a subscription is active.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of children, the public, or Storymoji.
Children's privacy
Storymoji is intended to be used by children with the involvement of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond the minimal, non-identifying data described above, and we designed the app to avoid needing any. There is no advertising, no social network, no chat, and no way for a child to reach strangers. Purchases are placed behind a grown-up gate so a child cannot buy a subscription on their own. We aim to follow applicable children's privacy laws, including the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and, in Europe and the UK, the GDPR and the Age Appropriate Design Code. If you believe a child has provided us information you would like removed, contact us and we will delete it.
Keeping and deleting data
The quota counter for a device is kept only for the current period and expires automatically after the month turns. Stories are kept so the app can show them; uninstalling the app removes the copies held on the device. To have server-side data associated with your device deleted, contact us at the address below and we will delete it, subject to any records we are legally required to keep.
Security
Connections between the app and our servers are encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Stored files are held in access-controlled cloud storage. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect the limited information we hold.
Where data is processed
Our providers may process data in countries other than the one you live in, including the United States. Where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers as required by applicable law.
Your choices and rights
Because we hold so little and it is not tied to your identity, there is not much to manage — but depending on where you live you may have rights to access or delete information about you. To make a request, contact us at the address below. You can stop all data collection at any time by uninstalling the app.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top and, where the change is significant, do our best to make it noticeable in the app or on this site.
